A poem for my Little Girl

MARIS

She is my firecracker!
Always moving, always exploring, always discovering, always creating.
Intensity and depth in everything she is
and everything she does.
Eyes wide open, sparkling, dancing.
Energy pulsating from her fingertips and toes.
Happiness and joy bound forth.
She is precocious and innocent,
adventurous, yet cautious.
A beautifully bold tapestry of endlessly dimensional hues.
My first born
My only little girl.
My heart.

Mama said there'd be days like this...

OK...so have you ever just had one of those days??? Well today was mine! This morning getting ready for church went a little something like this: Got the 2 year old dressed. Got the 3 year old dressed. 2 year old finds slice of pizza left on counter from last night, commences to eat it and grease stains his church clothes. Change 2 year old's clothes. Meanwhile, three year old (who cannot stand to wear anything with even the slightest drip of moisture on it) has been "brushing" her teeth and soaking her dress with the water. 3 year old then strips down to bloomers. Change 3 year old's dress. Teething 3 month old has a diaper blowout. Change 3 month old's clothes. Jump in shower. 3 year old, who had spotted 2 year old eating pizza, barges in demanding her share. Teething 3 month old screaming in the distance. 2 year old comes in, throws shower curtain open and announces that he has a poopy diaper. Rinse off. Throw on clothes. Brush teeth. Pick up teething 3 month old. Ask Daddy to change poopy 2 year old...needless to say we were late to mass! So much for Norman Rockwell.
